THE GRADY

A classic Art Deco apartment reimagined for modern life. This project began with a deep respect for the building’s original character, blending its heritage with a new sense of clarity, comfort, and everyday functionality.

We reconfigured the layout to introduce a formal entry and improve flow between the kitchen and living spaces — a subtle architectural move that now defines the apartment’s welcoming tone. The kitchen was opened to feel connected and generous, while the bathroom was thoughtfully redesigned to allow for a large, luxurious shower — a quiet upgrade that brings ease to daily routines.

Materiality was key in celebrating the apartment’s roots. In the kitchen, Carrara and Nero Marquina marble tiles were antiqued and laid in a checkered pattern — offering an old-world touch with enduring appeal. A hand-laid mosaic in the entry sets a considered tone, while European oak floorboards in the living and bedroom areas add softness and warmth.

The atmosphere draws from a Ralph Lauren sensibility and the enduring elegance of pre-war New York apartments — warm, collected, and grounded in tradition. A deep green kitchen with a built-in library ladder becomes the heart of the home, balanced by a custom dining banquette that invites slow mornings and long dinners. The palette and detailing feel tailored yet relaxed, layered with new and antique pieces that bring depth and character.

What made this project especially rewarding was the interplay between eras — pairing vintage finds with contemporary forms to tell a story that feels uniquely personal.

Our goal is never to impose a particular style, but to create a home that reflects your life, your rituals, and your sense of belonging — a space that’s entirely yours.
